New content

1. Information on how to use Oracle ref cursors in Java.

It's been a while since last update. Too much to do, and too little time :-)

However, I have added a new page on how you can use a ref cursor defined in an Oracle package from a Java application. This is due to the popularity of my ref cursor page, and some of you who wanted more information. So now it is ready: All lectures are found here: Programming.

2. Welcome to new subscribers!

Thank you for subscribing to the Database Design News! there are almost a thousand subscribers already, and the number is increasing each day. Hopefully, that means that you have found this site interesting.

I do not intend to send out frequent emails (I know myself how it is to have a filled-up mailbox :-), but hopefully, I will have news for you more often than each quarter...

However, a great welcome, and I hope you will stay with this site for a long time. I truly appreciate you being here.

3. Free and paid consulting...

Now and then I get requests for advice and help. I would love to, but time is limited, unfortunately, so I cannot respond to such requests.

However, if there is a topic you want me to cover, feel free to use the contact us form on my website, and I'll see what I can do.

There is however, a way, but it is a costly one :-) : I am about to develop a one-week intensive workshop, and you can read about it here: Database Design Workshop

4. Free downloads.

These free downloads are placed here for new subscribers. Hope you find them helpful! For downloading, RIGHT-click on each eBook image and select 'Save Target As', and choose a place on your harddisk. (If you have trouble saving it, try an older issue of the newsletter). Then double-click and read. Remember that you need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the eBooks. If you don't have it, LEFT-click on the Adobe icon.

UPDATE I have been made aware that the link to the ER-modeling eBook is broken. Go here to download:

Database Design Members page.

That's all for now!
