we have developed a web based application for one of the shipping companies in india. this company get clearences from various bodies for the ship operators to operate in indian waters.
we started designing the database, even befor review they changed the requirements, thus it goes on, we happened to add and remove fields 3 times before we started review of the primary design of the table structure, before normalization.

finaly we went for a tow wise design insted of a column wise design

ie.,

de defined jobs_attributes table that have id number, field name varhar2 (50), display name varchar2 (50), data type varchar2(50), mandatory_YN char(1), orderby number.

according to the job id we generate the entry screen dynamically through .net and inserted into a table trn_job_data.

now when the data comes inin a huge amount, the system is taking more time to respond while generating design.

this problem was happened because we didnt forseen this problem, and we completely depend on the end user. where there was a very horrible situation of the lack of coordination.
